>>Standing in Solidarity with Wisconsin’s Workers

(Late note: Rallies are being held in 23 other states thisweek.)

A message from Ken Martin…

Standing in Solidarity with Wisconsin’s Workers

Join in this Tuesday, February 22, as we stand with Wisconsin’s workers

It’s sobering to think that that could have been us. I know that these events in Wisconsin have made me even more grateful that we have Governor Dayton leading our state.”

This week, we’ve watched as the GOP launched an all-out attack on working families in Wisconsin. Their Tea-Party-Republican Governor has moved to take away the collective bargaining rights of workers – and with a Republican majority in both of Wisconsin’s legislative houses, the measure would have passed if Democratic legislators had not taken dramatic action and walked out.

The GOP attack on working families in Wisconsin is unconscionable. There is nothing more fundamental than workers’ rights to collectively bargain, and it is the work of our brothers and sisters in labor that has helped make our country and our workforce the strongest in the world.

Because of the Labor movement and the power of workers standing together, we have eight-hour workdays, occupational-safety standards, retirement security, the minimum wage. These are all things that many people take for granted, but things that are so important for working families in the United States. The DFL Party is and always will be proud to stand in solidarity with organized labor here in Minnesota and around the country.

I urge everyone to join in the Solidarity Rally for Wisconsin Workers this Tuesday, February 22nd at 4pm at the State Capitol. Visit the Facebook event page here to RSVP and get more information.

Hope to see you all there,

Ken Martin
